Caleb Wingate (1744-1817)

Caleb Wingate (also known as Caleb Winget) was born 13 February 1744 in England. His parentage is unknown. Caleb immigrated to the American Colonies sometime before the American Revolutionary War. He married Sarah in New Jersey. In 1776, Caleb purchased 250 acres on Ten Mile Creek in Pennsylvania from a John Walton. About 1778, Caleb relocated his family there.

Caleb Wingate participated in the Crawford Expedition in May and June of 1782.

U.S. Federal Censuses show Caleb in Washington County, Pennsylvania from 1790 through 1810.

Caleb died 13 February 1817 in Prosperity, Washington, Pennsylvania and was buried near there in the Upper Ten Mile Cemetery.
